The Base Set from 1999 is the cornerstone of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and one of the most famous sets in the world of trading cards. This was the very first set by Pokémon TCG, opening up a world of collecting and battling Pokémon cards for millions of fans. The Base Set includes 102 cards, with 16 holographic cards, and is known to have some of the most beloved and iconic Pokémon, among them Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur. This set is held in very high regard by collectors due to its historical significance, along with the fact that it’s the first set to introduce rarity symbols. Base Set cards have surged in value and are now regarded as essential investment pieces for collectors.
